Dr Keri Mills visits the National Archives of Fiji

Fantastic was how Dr Keri Mills described the National Archives of Fiji after her tour of its facilities today.

“I’ve always planned to come around and I was able to today with my student who is doing her Post Grad Diploma in History. We’ve come over to see what’s on offer here. Listening to Jim (Senior Archivist Timoci Balenaivalu) he mentions personalised assistance which is pretty good.

Dr Mills and her three companions were able to witness first-hand the work conducted in the 4 sections of the Archives.

“In the Archives New Zealand everything is in a database but here we will do our search manually which makes it all personal.

She added that it was good to see the digital transition of photographs and audio visual material.

Dr Mills who is originally from New Zealand is currently a History lecturer at the University of South Pacific.
